11/11/11 Conference

The Institute for Behavior Change recruits and trains professionals who offer a variety of psychological and behavioral support services to children, both in schools, at home and in the community.  If you would like to discuss a particular child's needs or situation, please don't hesitate to contact The Institute for Behavior Change

  • The Children's Behavioral Health Center (CBHC) closed its Coatesville location after three years of nonsupport by County or State officials, but these services are still available and can be delivered to Pennsylvania children who are disabled but who do not yet have Medical Assistance benefits. Imagine that any child from Pennsylvania with a disability who does not yet have Medical Assistance benefits can receive an expert diagnostic evaluation and consultation with a licensed psychologist and certified school psychologist with more than 30 years' experience in the field of children's mental health in about a month -- without need for the approval of any government official or insurance company.  The evaluation is absolutely free to qualified Pennsylvania residents under the age of 21, regardless of family income.  Click here for more information about the CBHC evaluation process.
  •
EPSDT "wrap-around" Services In Pennsylvania, our staff can deliver EPSDT Behavioral Health Rehabilitation Services" -- sometimes referred to as "wrap-around" services -- in Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties through our affiliation with the Network for Behavior Change (a professional psychologist practice group that provides close supervision and training for the Institute staff).  These services include Diagnostic psychological evaluations, Therapeutic Staff Support (TSS), Mobile Therapy (MT) and Behavior Specialist Consultant (BSC) services.  EPSDT services are available in every state, but the type of services and manner in which they are offered varies widely.  Click here for in-depth information about EPSDT services.

School Consultation Services    With a Certified School Psychologist from the Network for Behavior Change, we offer excellent and cost-effective support to children in public schools, including Charter Schools.  Our staff can perform diagnostic psychoeducational evaluations to determine if a child needs to be classified as a student in need of Special Education services.  Our staff can design educational remediation and behavioral support programs.  Because our staff can also deliver EPSDT services in Pennsylvania, we can deliver behavioral support services to children in Pennsylvania schools -- at no cost to the school or the child's family.

Advocacy and Support for children and their parents    Our staff offers expert advice and guidance regarding public school regulations (including Charter School regulations) in Pennsylvania.   We can advise parents regarding how to obtain Medical Assistance benefits for a disabled child in Pennsylvania, Early Intervention services, help with understanding educational Due Process issues, right-to-education concerns for children with disabilities, special education program development, and other matters pertaining to child behavior and education in Pennsylvania.  We support parents who object to the inappropriate use of psychological methods, measurements and techniques on children in educational settings.
